Kemuning News – those of you who have been reading our quarterly newsletter must have noticed the high quality and regular publication. This was made possible by our dedicated team which consists of Kuenie, Kim and Kelvin who carried out the work with full commitment, dedication and at subsidized costs for PPKK. Due to various personal reasons and family commitment, they are not able to handle the publication anymore. The new team will be helmed by Tan Lip Heong, Vivien Khoo and Panchavarnam. Retailers and business community gave their support in taking up advertisements, however we would like to see more contribution of articles in future issues. Chess Competition organized by MPP Zon 10, 12 & 13 saw the biggest number of participants in Shah Alam. The event was held on 19 April 2010 at Dewan Oncidium Kota Kemuning. Lebuhraya Kemuning-Shah Alam (LKSA ) was opened to traffic on 18 May 2010, linking Kota Kemuning to Shah Alam, Klang & Alam Impian. A few rough edges were ironed out at a meeting with officials concerned. On 4 June 2010 saw the official launching of SJKC Chung Hua as Digital School & the ground breaking ceremony of their multi-purpose field by Senator Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai. PPKK contributed RM7,000 raised at a Charity Dinner & Dance themed “The Arabian 1001 Nights”. SMK Kota Kemuning too received RM7,000 as one of the beneficiaries. Fire Hydrant Inspection – with the co-operation of Mr. Tan Ah Kow, councillor of MPP Zone 12 the Klang Fire Brigade helped residents to spruce up fire hydrants in Kota Kemuning. Hydrants were given a coat of paint, defective hydrants were identified, and random checks made to test whether they are in working condition. On the same day, tree planting exercise were carried out along the lakeside. Community Policing Day held on 9 October 2010 in front of Pondok Polis Kota Kemuning. DSP Roslan Abdullah, Ketua Bahagian Ketenteraman Awam, Shah Alam was in attendance. In view of the disappointing low turn out of residents one would think that crime rate in Kota Kemuning is low. This is despite banners strung at strategic areas, emails and SMS sent to residents. Members’ attendance and participation at such events are highly encouraged. Lakeside Carnival was held from 29 – 31 October 2010 in conjunction with Shah Alam’s 10th Anniversary celebration of its City status. Host of activities included dragon boat race, remote control powerboat race, quarter marathon, aerobics & line dancing, cultural dances, pre-school talent competition. Current Issues Construction of Telco Tower at 1st Roundabout by Konsortium Jaringan Selangor – We are surprised and puzzled as to how the Tower can be located in such a bad location without the residents’ views being consulted. Letters of protest were sent to MBSA Datuk Bandar and Selangor Chief Minister to intervene and relocate the tower to a better location away from residential areas of Kota Kemuning. Flyover Access Road from Kota Kemuning Entrance to Persiaran Anggerik Malaxis - this was indicated in the Master Plan and timely to be erected to ease traffic jam at First Roundabout. Letter dated 11 March 2011 to MBSA Datuk Bandar was sent. Uprooted Trees and Unstable Signboards following storm - pursuing MBSA to rectify unsuitable trees with fragile roots and falling branches as well as treating termite-infested trees. New trees need to be replanted to present a cool and peaceful environment.Signboards were found to be embedded not according to specifications and easily toppled by strong winds. Working with MPP Zone 12 Councillor Mr. Tan Ah Kow to ask MBSA to investigate further. Security - We welcome Gated and Guarded system although its only a deterrent but knowing guards are patrolling brings relief to residents as well as help reduce crime rate in areas. Potholes – throughout roads in Kota Kemuning. Flood prone areas - At roundabouts (Columbia Asia, Dewan Oncidium, Entrance to Jalan Anggerik Eria 31/ 109 from Anggerik Doritis side). Urge MBSA to clear clogged drains because the flood problem is worsening. Library – the building is now an MBSA Cawangan but the Library is nowhere to be seen. Road Signage - absence of road signs to indicate One Way Street especially at McDonald’s and Paparich junction has caused a number of irate motorists going at each others’ throats. Need for a new Secondary School – the sole Secondary school in Kota Kemuning is facing overcrowded classrooms and has had to turn away students when school term commenced this year. A letter requesting for a new secondary school dated 17 February 2011 to Minister of Education was sent. Finally I wish to express my sincere appreciation to members and volunteers for their continued support which will undoubtedly spur us to work harder. THE ASSOCIATION BY YOU, FOR YOU MOHAMED SIRAJ ABDUL RAZACK President PPKK. |
